A centenarian who has dedicated his life to playing poker has achieved the title of the world’s oldest professional poker player. Ivor Parker, who started playing poker at the age of 14, gained 86 years of experience on the tables since his first game in a pub in Boston, Lincs in 1940.
With a firm belief that successful players require qualities like patience, resilience, strategy, and a passion for competition, Ivor emphasized that poker is a competitive pursuit where skills like experience, composure, and decision-making are crucial regardless of age.
Hailing from Ab Kettleby, Leicestershire, Ivor has recently signed a full-time ambassadorship deal with GGPoker. His ambassadorship began with a VIP event at Grosvenor Casinos before the Goliath 2026 poker tournament.
Expressing his lifelong love for poker, Ivor shared that the game has been a constant in his life, providing him with unique experiences and continuous learning opportunities. Despite working as a production operative until the age of 98 and raising a family, poker has remained a significant part of Ivor’s life.
Reflecting on the evolution of poker, Ivor highlighted the game’s increased strategic complexity and the rise of talented players. He mentioned that playing with numerous individuals, some of whom have passed away, has enriched his experience and kept his mind sharp.
GGPoker brand ambassador Leah Hauer praised Ivor’s qualities of patience, discipline, and decision-making, emphasizing that poker is a game that fosters personal growth and learning from others at the table.
