“Canadian Defender Moise Bombito undergoes surgery to overcome chronic pain”

Moise Bombito connected the decision to undergo surgery on his left tibia to a discussion he had with the Canadian national team coach, Jesse Marsch. Despite facing chronic pain, the 26-year-old defender from Montreal was determined not to miss the FIFA World Cup happening in his home country. Bombito, who initially fractured his tibia on October 5, played a crucial role for Canada during the tournament, participating in three out of five matches, including a full 90-minute game against South Africa in the round-of-16.

Following the tournament, Bombito experienced ongoing discomfort and pain, but postponed surgery to assess the necessity with the coaching and medical staff. He described the persistent pain as a constant presence, causing a jolt with every step, affecting his physical and mental well-being. Bombito expressed his desire to resolve the issue to return to full fitness and contribute at his best level.

After joining Nice in 2024 from the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, Bombito featured prominently in his debut season with 35 games and 33 starts. However, he was sidelined for most of the following season due to injuries. The decision to undergo surgery again reflects his commitment to overcoming the physical challenges he faces to return to top form.
