The Las Vegas Aces secured a 93-73 victory over the Toronto Tempo with a standout performance from A’ja Wilson, who contributed 27 points and eight rebounds. Jackie Young also played a key role, scoring 23 points and providing eight assists without any turnovers. Chelsea Gray chipped in with 11 points as well. This win came as the Aces played their first game without NaLyssa Smith, who sustained a season-ending left leg injury in a previous match against Toronto.
For Toronto, Isabelle Harrison led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Laura Juskaite with 14 points, Kia Nurse with 12 points, and Kiki Rice and Kiana Williams each contributing 10 points.
The victory helped the Aces (27-13) maintain their one-game lead for third place in the WNBA playoff race, staying ahead of Indiana (26-14) who also secured a win against Connecticut.
Las Vegas took control early in the game, with Young’s 3-pointer breaking an early tie and propelling them to maintain the lead throughout. They finished the first quarter with a 27-17 lead, shooting 10 for 20 from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Toronto struggled with nine turnovers in the opening quarter.
The Aces continued their strong performance into the second quarter, extending their lead to 56-39 by halftime. Despite a slight dip in 3-point shooting in the second quarter, Las Vegas maintained a 50% shooting accuracy overall (18-for-36). Toronto committed 12 personal fouls in the first half, allowing the Aces to capitalize by making 13 of 14 free throws.
Looking ahead, the Toronto Tempo will face the Phoenix Mercury, while the Las Vegas Aces will take on the Seattle Storm on Thursday, September 17.
