A tragic incident occurred as a young beauty queen lost her life in a heartbreaking accident involving her own car while unloading items during the winter season, according to details presented at an inquest today.
The victim, identified as Eleisha Skinner, 21 years old and a student at Buckinghamshire New University, met with the unfortunate fate on January 4 in High Wycombe. After returning from the Christmas break, she was maneuvering her black Audi A1 when the vehicle unexpectedly shifted, trapping her against a wall as she was unloading the car’s contents from the rear.
Upon hearing alarming sounds and a distressed voice, a resident at the location promptly called emergency services. Subsequently, Ms. Skinner was discovered unconscious and was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital, where she passed away on January 8 due to severe injuries sustained in the incident.
During the inquest, it was revealed that the icy conditions on the sloped driveway, caused by wintry weather, contributed to the tragic accident. Investigations highlighted the absence of salt or grit on the driveway, along with the lack of protective barriers to prevent such occurrences.
The coroner, Crispin Butler, emphasized the need for safety measures and informed that the property owners, Howarth Property, had installed railings following the incident. Nevertheless, concerns were raised regarding the potential risks and the need for further preventive actions.
A detailed examination confirmed that the victim’s car was in proper working condition, eliminating mechanical faults as a cause. The coroner’s report outlined the cause of death as anoxic brain injury due to asphyxia compression, indicating the fatal outcome of the accident.
In a poignant tribute, Ms. Skinner’s family remembered her as a compassionate and vibrant individual who brightened the lives of those around her. The family expressed their enduring love and remembrance for Eleisha, highlighting her positive impact on the world and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
Buckinghamshire New University announced that Ms. Skinner would posthumously receive a BSc degree with honors in social work, recognizing her dedication and aspirations in the field.
