David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham by posting the quickest lap time. Clocking in at 1 minute 14.194 seconds, Malukas topped the charts in the second training session of the day. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for the evening.
Alex Palou secured the second-fastest time with a lap time of 1:14.560, followed closely by Dennis Hauger in third place with a time of 1:14.592, navigating the Markham downtown road course.
The first day of track sessions had to be called off by organizers due to incomplete course preparations and pending safety inspections. This led to a delayed start for the event.
This year marks Markham’s debut as the host city for the race, following its relocation from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been hosted since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had already showcased his speed by leading the morning’s initial practice session with a time of 1:14.9915.
