“School Shooting in Thailand: Two Dead, Suspected Perpetrator Identified”

An alleged gunman caused chaos at a school in Thailand, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, as per reports received on Friday.

Reports emerged of a suspected shooter at a school located north of Bangkok in Thailand on August 7, prompting a police response to the scene.

The situation is currently unfolding at Debsirin Nonthaburi School as authorities work to ensure the safety of all individuals present in the vicinity.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, the police urged anyone trapped inside a building to seek refuge, secure the premises, and await rescue assistance.

Preliminary information indicates that approximately 20 people sustained injuries during the school incident, with two fatalities reported, both identified as teachers.

Law enforcement has identified the perpetrator as a student enrolled at the school.

According to Thai law enforcement and local media, the suspected shooter met their demise, with the circumstances surrounding their death remaining uncertain, whether from law enforcement intervention or self-inflicted.

The individual has been identified as a ninth-grade student named Dechrapee Kongdee, confirmed by the chief of the Nonthaburi provincial police in statements to the BBC.

Ninth-grade students in Thailand typically fall within the age range of 14 years old.

The shooting incident occurred in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province, situated to the north of Bangkok.

Debsirin School, renowned for its educational excellence, operates multiple campuses across the nation and was originally founded by Thai King Chulalongkorn in 1885, attracting attendance from prominent figures such as Thai prime ministers and diplomats.
