“Second Child Fatality in Hot Car Tragedy”

A tragic incident in Florida has resulted in the death of a toddler who was left in a car under high temperatures while under the care of a babysitter.

The child, aged two, was discovered in a car outside a daycare center by the father and immediately taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, did not survive.

This marks the second fatality in less than a week in Broward County due to a child being left in a hot car. The Hallandale Beach Police Department is currently investigating the incident that occurred during the Fourth of July weekend, with temperatures reaching approximately 38C in the area.

Authorities responded to a call at around 1:35 pm after learning that the child had been left inside a vehicle on Northwest 7th Avenue. Details on how the child ended up in the car and whether any charges will be filed remain undisclosed.

According to a police statement, the child was left in the care of a babysitter at a residence on NW 7th Ave. The child was declared deceased upon arrival at the hospital.

The case is under active investigation, with officers gathering and reviewing evidence. The police expressed condolences to the family and affected individuals, emphasizing the importance of checking the back seat before locking the vehicle to prevent such tragedies.

Regrettably, this incident occurred just 20 miles away from a similar case in which a father mistakenly left his toddler in a car outside a Plantation daycare on June 29. The father discovered the child only at the end of the day, thinking he had already dropped him off.

As investigations continue into both incidents, the community is urged to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid such heartbreaking losses.
