“11-Year-Old Boy Loses Hand in Alligator Attack”

An 11-year-old boy had his right hand severed in a terrifying alligator incident during a family fishing outing. Brodie Terry sustained the severe injury on June 27 while releasing a catch back into the water at Nelson’s Fish Camp in Florida. An 8-and-a-half-foot alligator attacked him, but a family member intervened heroically to save him.

During the ordeal, the boy’s father courageously fought off the alligator to protect his son. Despite efforts to save Brodie’s hand through multiple surgeries, doctors had to amputate it at the wrist. Brodie was discharged from the hospital and returned to Pennsylvania with his family for continued recovery.

The loss is especially poignant for Brodie, who has a deep passion for fishing and baseball, which his family members emphasized as integral parts of his life. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by his family to assist with the growing medical expenses incurred due to the life-altering event.

Tragically, the same day witnessed another fatal alligator attack in Orlando. Brittany Clark, a construction worker, lost her life in a similar incident at Little Big Econ State Forest. Alligators involved in both attacks have been euthanized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Although rare, alligator attacks can occur during the mating season, which spans from April to June.

To support Brodie’s recovery journey, donations can be made through the GoFundMe page set up by his family.
