“Atlanta Theme Park Fun Spot America Announces Permanent Closure”

An Atlanta, Georgia theme park known as Fun Spot America is gearing up to permanently close its doors after nearly forty years in operation. Originally established as Dixieland Fun Park in 1990, it was acquired by Fun Spot America Theme Parks group in 2017 and is scheduled to cease operations on August 2.

The park features an array of attractions, including 14 major rides such as three high-speed roller coasters, a 40-foot go-kart track, Georgia’s sole legal bungee-jumping tower, and various family-friendly rides for younger visitors.

Although the exact reason for the closure remains undisclosed by the park’s owners, financial constraints due to aging attractions often lead to unprofitable conditions that make maintenance or renovation unsustainable.

Customers who have made bookings for school or group trips beyond the closure date will be contacted by the park’s management. Additionally, individuals holding gift cards or season passes are advised to utilize them before the specified closing date.

While the fate of the current park site remains uncertain, the other two Fun Spot locations in Orlando and Kissimmee will remain operational. CEO John Arie Jr. expressed the difficulty of the decision to close, appreciating the dedication of the Atlanta team and the support from the local community.

Fun Spot America encouraged patrons to visit for one last memory and ride before the closure date, expressing gratitude for the years of service and entertainment provided to families.
