Allegations have been made against Britain’s first gay surrogate father, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 57, and his partner, Scott Drewitt-Barlow, 32, accusing them of rape and grooming young men for sexual exploitation.
The couple, residents of Danbury, Essex, faced multiple charges, including rape, sexual assault, and trafficking for sexual exploitation during their appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court. They were remanded in custody pending a further hearing on September 7, with a trial set for January 18, 2027, lasting 8 to 10 weeks.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and Scott Drewitt-Barlow, known for their prominent lifestyle and business ventures, have been accused of targeting and grooming young males, befriending them, and inviting them to their properties for exploitative purposes, as stated by prosecutor Serena Berry at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, who made headlines as Britain’s first gay surrogate father in 1999, faces charges including sexual assault, rape, and facilitating exploitation. Scott Drewitt-Barlow is charged with similar offenses, including sexual assault, rape, and involvement in exploitative travel arrangements.
Essex Police disclosed that both defendants faced additional charges, with Barrie Drewitt-Barlow accused of various offenses, such as sexual activity with a child, paying for sexual services of a child, rape, sexual assault, and other related charges. Scott Drewitt-Barlow also faced additional charges, including rape and causing or inciting sexual activities.
