UK Set to Sizzle: Heatwave Looms This Weekend

Expect temperatures to rise significantly in the coming days, with the Met Office pinpointing eight regions set to experience scorching weather conditions. The UK is on track to surpass its heatwave threshold this weekend and into Monday, June 22.

Starting from Friday, June 19, the southern parts of England will see highs of 30C, climbing to 32C by Sunday, June 21, across the south and southeast, according to the latest Met Office reports.

Meteorologist Jo Farrow of Netweather.tv noted that a surge of hot air will move across the English Channel into southeastern Britain on Friday, spreading over more southern areas by Sunday and Monday. Temperatures in East Anglia, London, the Home Counties, and other parts of southern England are expected to hit the high 20s and even low 30s.

The forecast indicates that the UK is likely to experience heatwave conditions over the weekend and into Monday, with temperatures potentially reaching 33C in some southern locations. Sunny and dry weather is expected on Sunday as high pressure builds over the UK.

The Met Office’s outlook suggests a steady climb in temperatures, with southern England approaching 30C by Friday, gradually warming up more widely through the weekend, depending on cloud cover.

By Saturday, some areas in the south and southeast of England could meet the criteria for a heatwave, with temperatures peaking in the low 30s. Maximum temperatures are projected to reach 32C on Friday in East Anglia, 28C on Saturday, 32C on Sunday, and a potential 33C on Monday in the same regions.
