Passengers aboard a Turkish flight experienced a frightening incident when their aircraft collided with a pole, causing significant damage to the plane. The Boeing 777 struck a radar mast while taxiing after landing at Antalya International Airport. The impact led to the collapse of the pole, which punctured the fuselage and triggered the deployment of oxygen masks inside the cabin.
The flight, operated by Turkish Airlines as TK2430, had just landed from Istanbul and was maneuvering towards its parking spot when the collision occurred. The force of the impact caused panic among passengers as overhead compartments were dislodged, oxygen masks deployed, and a hole was smashed in the fuselage.
Despite the chaos, all 267 passengers and crew members were safely evacuated with no life-threatening injuries reported, except for one passenger with minor injuries. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by Turkish Airlines and the Turkish Ministry of Transport.
The damaged Boeing 777-300ER, with registration TC-LKD, sustained significant damage to its right wing and fuselage, necessitating extensive repairs. The aircraft, which had previously been leased to IndiGo, was returned in its livery and will undergo thorough safety assessments.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the accident while ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew involved.
