“43-Year-Old Arrested in Swiss Rave Shooting”

Swiss authorities announced the apprehension of a 43-year-old individual in connection with a fatal shooting at a rave in Aarau over the weekend. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday at a horse racing track venue, resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Italian woman and injuries to five others.

Following an extensive operation, the Swiss police arrested the suspect just before 1 a.m. on Monday. The investigation into the event’s circumstances, background, and potential motives is ongoing, with authorities indicating that a single perpetrator is likely involved.

Authorities are exploring three possible motives for the shooting, including a mass shooting, terrorism, or an unknown criminal intent. Evidence collected at the crime scene suggests the use of two different types of bullets, potentially from a handgun and a larger weapon like an assault rifle.

While the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger mentioned similarities between the cartridges found and those used in Russian AK-74 assault rifles, police have not confirmed this information. The victim, identified as Maria Spinelli by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, was the 22-year-old Italian who tragically lost her life in the incident.
