“West Ham Owner’s Resignation Amid BBC Investigation”

The BBC has revealed its intention to broadcast an episode of Panorama next week following an investigation into the actions of West Ham owner David Sullivan. This development followed Sullivan’s statement announcing his resignation as West Ham chairman after being informed of forthcoming serious historical allegations. The BBC spokesperson, in collaboration with The Times newspaper, confirmed a joint investigation into Sullivan’s conduct, with the episode set to air on Monday.

In his statement, Sullivan refuted the impending false allegations, citing sensationalized media coverage and emphasizing his denial of any misconduct. He addressed claims of improper behavior, attributing them to a small number of individuals amidst his extensive career in various industries. Sullivan, who acquired a 50% stake in West Ham in 2010, highlighted his background in the adult industry and his involvement in media ventures before his tenure at the club.

Following the recent departure of Baroness Karren Brady as vice-chair, Sullivan emphasized his commitment to combating the allegations and announced his resignation from his roles at West Ham to focus on addressing the accusations legally. Expressing gratitude to the club and its stakeholders, Sullivan entrusted the board and interim CEO Karim Virani with guiding West Ham forward. The club confirmed Sullivan’s resignation and stated that the allegations did not pertain to West Ham’s operations, with Virani overseeing daily activities until further board restructuring is announced.
