A dramatic plane crash scene has been captured on video, showing the aircraft striking the ground and skidding for a considerable distance before erupting into flames. The aircraft, reportedly a US-registered private jet, tragically claimed the lives of both crew members aboard, as confirmed by aviation authorities and local media in the Dominican Republic. The identities of the pilot and copilot have not been disclosed, and there were no passengers onboard.
The crashed plane, identified by Dominican aviation officials as a GALX with US registration number N318JF, was en route back to La Romana International Airport in the southeastern Dominican Republic. Initial reports indicate that the flight was bound for Austin, Texas, in the United States but had to declare an emergency approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana before attempting to return to the airport.
In the footage, a white business jet can be seen speeding along the ground near the runway, kicking up clouds of dirt and dust as it veers off course, with parts of the fuselage starting to disintegrate under the impact. Subsequently, a fire ignites at the rear of the aircraft, leading to a larger explosion as the plane continues to slide and break apart.
The video concludes with the wreckage engulfed in flames, emitting thick black smoke into the air above the airport premises, while emergency response vehicles rush to the scene to contain the blaze. The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute and the country’s Aviation Accident Investigation Commission have initiated emergency protocols and are actively investigating to determine the cause of the tragic crash.
