“Trump Asserts Authority Over Netanyahu on Iran Deal”

US President Donald Trump has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be compelled to accept any agreement made by the US with Iran. In an interview with the Financial Times, Trump asserted his authority, saying, “He won’t have any choice. I call the shots. I call all the shots. He doesn’t call the shots.”

Trump’s remarks followed Iran’s launch of ballistic missiles towards Israel, marking a significant breach of the ceasefire agreement. Subsequently, the US and Israel conducted joint strikes on key Iranian targets on February 28. Iran retaliated by attacking sites across the region and closing the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite a temporary ceasefire in April, a lasting peace settlement has not been reached between the US and Iran. Trump, speaking to Fox News, indicated that he would direct Netanyahu to refrain from retaliating against Iran, emphasizing that Iran’s actions would not deter his efforts to finalize a US-Iran deal.

Trump expressed confidence in the deal’s progression, stating, “It’s not going to have any impact on the deal.” He reiterated his commitment to the agreement despite the missile strikes on Israel, underscoring that the deal’s fate would not be swayed by external events.

Regarding the possibility of the deal failing, Trump mentioned the consideration of a commando raid on Iran as an option. He explained that this could involve further military action or maintaining a blockade on Iran, which he believed to be a potent strategy against the country.

Trump’s statements regarding Netanyahu came after the contents of a contentious phone call between the two leaders were leaked. Trump reportedly criticized Netanyahu, stating, “You’re f***ing crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me,” and highlighting strained relations with Israel due to Netanyahu’s actions.
