US Offers $100B Deal to Iran to Halt Strait of Hormuz Tolls

The US has proposed a $100 billion deal to Iran in exchange for ceasing its imposition of tolls on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In an effort to ease Iran’s stance, the US and Oman are discussing strategies, offering to release a portion of the $100 billion in Iranian assets currently frozen abroad. Despite the offer, Tehran has rejected the proposal according to The Wall Street Journal. Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister and negotiator, asserted Iran’s control over the strait, emphasizing that vessels deviating from approved routes would face immediate and forceful measures.
