Keir Starmer expressed concern over attempts to sow division in the UK following a series of arson attacks on his family’s property linked to Russia. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to combat external forces seeking to disrupt democracy. Two individuals, acting on behalf of a mysterious Russian-speaking figure known as El Money, were convicted for the attacks.
During the G7 summit, Starmer highlighted the ongoing efforts to undermine unity in the country and the importance of resisting such influences. He acknowledged the impact of the arson incidents on his family and the significance of seeking justice. The attacks, which targeted properties associated with Starmer, were viewed in the context of supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
In response to the situation, the UK government announced 70 new sanctions against Russia to demonstrate strength against Vladimir Putin’s regime. Additionally, a technology company, Sabre Global Technologies Limited (SGTL), received the largest fine ever imposed for breaching Russian financial sanctions since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
