“UK Mandates Tech to Block Child Explicit Images”

In both Preston and Pennsylvania, I’ve encountered British teenage girls who were coerced into performing disturbing sexual acts on camera by men who manipulated them through online grooming.

Moreover, I’ve witnessed British men engaging in discussions on online platforms about compensating girls with small amounts of money for live webcam feeds featuring children under 10 years old. The entire operation of global pedophile networks, as well as individual local sexual abusers, relies on the manipulation and coercion of children to capture explicit images and stream their exploitation, facilitated solely through a phone.

The Government has announced a mandate for tech companies to prevent children in the UK from sending, receiving, or taking explicit images within three months. This technology already exists and has been demonstrated to me.

I have personally observed a phone blocking the camera function upon detecting a naked image of a child, effectively preventing children from being coerced into taking such pictures. This initiative is crucial in combatting the 91% of self-generated child sexual abuse cases online.

It is a long overdue responsibility for tech companies to implement these measures, as there is no valid reason for children to engage in taking explicit images.

I am encouraged by the Government’s commitment to legislate and ensure compliance from tech companies. I am dedicated to collaborating with them to draft robust legislation that will effectively address this issue. This matter has become a personal mission for me, prompting my resignation in pursuit of advocating for these changes.

Upon successful implementation, the UK will lead the global effort in safeguarding children, setting a precedent that will resonate worldwide.

Handing children smartphones without sufficient safeguards is akin to exposing them to known dangers, akin to allowing a scout to camp with a known pedophile or a child to a room where abuse is likely. It is imperative that we swiftly remove the tools and access of predators to protect our children.

Let’s take action promptly to safeguard our children and eliminate the tools of predators.
