Experts project a gradual rise in temperatures, with much of the nation expected to be engulfed in heat by Wednesday, August 12. The hottest regions are anticipated to be in the southern and eastern parts of England, particularly in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
The latest WXCharts maps, predominantly colored in bright red, signify the upcoming hot weather conditions. Meteorologists from Metdesk, the source of these maps, suggest that temperatures could peak at 36C around Wednesday, August 12.
During this period, temperatures are widely anticipated to surpass 30C, even in parts of the Midlands and northern England. Scotland and Northern Ireland, however, are predicted to remain relatively cooler, with temperatures expected to linger in the low to mid-20s across many areas.
Although the east will experience the highest temperatures, Wales is forecasted to have dry and sunny weather, albeit slightly cooler. Swansea and its surrounding areas are expected to reach temperatures of 26C to 27C, according to the forecasters.
As reported by The Express, Monday saw warm temperatures with a high of 33.5C recorded by the Met Office in Wisley, Surrey. However, rain is predicted for Wednesday and Thursday, particularly heavy in Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.
A yellow weather warning has been issued for thunderstorms across various regions including Angus, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, and Highland. The Met Office warns of potential disruptions due to slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms.
According to WXCharts, temperatures exceeding 35C may soon be experienced in various parts of the country.
The ongoing heatwaves have raised concerns about potential food price hikes and shortages as a result of the prolonged dry spell.
Tom Bradshaw, president of the National Farmers’ Union, has urged government support for the construction of reservoirs on farms as part of broader measures. He emphasized the importance of water security in ensuring national food security.
