“UK Braces for Fourth Heatwave as Temperatures Soar”

Advanced weather forecasts indicate a potential return of temperatures above 30C in the UK, possibly leading to the fourth heatwave this year. Currently, the UK is experiencing its third heatwave of 2026, with temperatures in southern regions expected to stay above 30C until the weekend.

Meteorologists from the Met Office predict a decline in temperatures over the weekend, with highs of 26C in the south and 24C in the north on Sunday. This drop could mark the end of the ongoing heatwave. However, weather models suggest a rapid rise in temperatures back into the 30s soon.

According to the latest projections, next Thursday could see highs of 30C and 31C in eastern, western, and southern England. The following day, temperatures could reach 32C in southern and south-eastern areas, with 31C likely in western regions.

Anticipated conditions for the following Saturday indicate a significant warming trend. Southern and south-eastern England could experience highs of 35C, while central areas could see temperatures ranging from 33C to 34C. Northern regions like Yorkshire and even Wales might also reach temperatures of 30C or higher.

Temperature anomaly maps for the upcoming Saturday show regions in England and Wales colored in deep red, indicating temperatures well above the seasonal norm. Conversely, parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland are shaded in blue, suggesting temperatures below average.

GFS model maps highlight that 17 counties in England may witness temperatures of 34C or more next week. David Hayter, the deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, noted the prolonged heatwave but mentioned a potential shift in weather patterns towards cooler temperatures, albeit with some locations still experiencing heatwave conditions.

Despite expectations of a cooldown this weekend, meteorologists foresee a return to very warm conditions in parts of the south after the weekend. Towards the end of next week, there is a possibility of thunderstorms.
