A tragic incident has deeply affected a community as a child was airlifted to a hospital, and two twin girls, aged only 15 months, were discovered deceased at the same residence. The parents of the children have been accused of “deprivation of care by a family member resulting in the death of a minor under 15 years of age.” The twins were found lifeless in their bed in Beuvrages, close to Valenciennes (Nord), France, around 1 pm on Monday, June 29.
The parents, aged 32 and 35, were formally charged on July 1, as reported by RTL. A post-mortem examination revealed that the twins died from dehydration and were underweight at the time of their passing. Their four other siblings, aged three, four, five, and six, who also resided at the same location, were found to be dehydrated, with one in critical condition in a hospital after being airlifted from the scene, according to RTL.
The parents, living in social housing managed by Société immobilière du Grand Hainaut (SIGH), contacted emergency services upon discovering the twins unresponsive. The Valenciennes prosecutor’s office confirmed the formal charges against the parents and their custody. The surviving siblings have been placed under the care of Child Welfare Services, as reported by Birmingham Live.
LeParisien stated that the family was not under the supervision of a juvenile court judge and no prior reports had been filed. The mayor of Beuvrages disclosed that the family had relocated to the area just two months before the tragic incident occurred.
