Caio Arrabal, 44, lost his footing while on the Pedra do Macaco trail in Marica, Rio de Janeiro, descending approximately 492 feet. Emergency responders initiated a search operation to reach the inaccessible location where Arrabal fell. It was reported that Arrabal, a trail guide, was inexperienced on that particular path, which lacked warning signs.
The recovery mission faced challenges due to the rugged terrain and dense forest where Arrabal landed. Previously, Rosemary Garcia, 59, tragically fell from a clip at a zip-line park at Gruta do Spar. Despite wearing safety gear, witnesses recounted that Garcia slipped while applying insect repellent, leading to a fatal fall from a height of about 98 feet. The guide’s attempts to prevent the fall were unsuccessful.
