Starmer Slams Farage for Exploiting Tragic Murder

Keir Starmer has strongly criticized Nigel Farage for exploiting the tragic murder of Henry Nowak against the wishes of Nowak’s family, calling it “unforgivable.” The Prime Minister accused the Reform UK leader of insincerely respecting the family’s plea for calm and instead inciting “pure cold rage” following the violent clashes in Southampton, where the murder occurred.

During a session of PMQs, Starmer expressed shock at Farage’s actions, highlighting the grieving family’s request to avoid exploitation of the tragedy. Starmer emphasized the importance of learning lessons and seeking justice for Henry, rather than fueling anger.

The PM condemned Farage for disregarding the family’s wishes and exploiting the tragedy for personal gain, stating that his actions revealed his true character. The bodycam footage released showed the harrowing moments before Henry’s death, where he repeatedly pleaded for help while in handcuffs.

Following Digwa’s sentencing to a 21-year jail term for the murder, Farage made controversial remarks about a perceived bias in policing. He called for a change in culture and urged for a response of “pure cold rage.” These comments were met with criticism from Policing Minister Sarah Jones, who deemed them irresponsible and unhelpful in the context of escalating tensions.

Starmer reiterated the need for calm and respect for the family’s wishes, emphasizing that violence and disorder were unjustifiable. He pledged to uphold the law and ensure accountability for any disruptive behavior. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood also denounced attempts to exploit Henry’s death for divisive purposes, echoing the family’s call for unity and safety in the community.
