Schoolboy Fatally Hit by Car in Essex Altercation

Tragic incident involving schoolboy Bobby Bloomfield, who was hit by a car following an altercation on private property, was discussed in court proceedings. A 15-year-old minor and William Lunnon, aged 43, were held in custody on murder charges after appearing at Chelmsford magistrates court. Bobby, a student at Shenfield High School, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital after being found by authorities in Pilgrims Hatch, Essex, on Sunday evening.

According to prosecutor Rohini Majumdar, the victim and his companions were on private premises when Lunnon approached them, instructing them to vacate the area. Allegedly, the boys fled but were subsequently pursued by the two defendants in a vehicle.

During the court session, the 15-year-old suspect, dressed in a quarter-zip sweater and jeans, only spoke to confirm personal details and the transfer of the case to crown court. Lunnon, attired in a grey prison tracksuit, similarly confirmed his particulars. The next court appearance for a preliminary hearing is scheduled at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday.

Authorities are in the process of interrogating four other individuals from Pilgrims Hatch, comprising two men aged 65 and 54, and two women aged 65 and 45, who were apprehended on Tuesday on suspicion of hindering justice.

Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate officers are actively piecing together the sequence of events surrounding the tragedy. Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood stated, “Our primary objective remains to ascertain the complete circumstances and offer support to Bobby’s grieving family. We encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward. Even the smallest detail could contribute significantly to our investigation efforts. If you have any information, please share it through the public portal.”

In a poignant statement released by Bobby’s family, they expressed the profound anguish of losing a child and the irreplaceable void left by his absence. Comedian Josh James, Bobby’s cousin, commemorated his beloved relative online with heartfelt messages and shared memories.
