A man was taken into custody following the discovery of a deceased man in his 60s outside a residence engulfed in flames. The incident occurred on Wargon Crescent in Glenmore Park, with emergency services responding to the fire shortly before 1 am on Thursday. The victim, suffering from severe burns, was found outside the burning house.
During a press briefing, authorities revealed that the arrested individual, a 36-year-old with a criminal record, was familiar to law enforcement and had a familial connection to the deceased man. Superintendent Trent King, Nepean Police Area Commander, stated that a forensic examination would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Law enforcement clarified that there was no prior history of domestic violence between the two men. They elaborated on the situation, indicating that an altercation ensued following a break-in at the property, where the front door had been forcibly opened. Additionally, an accelerant seemed to have been used, but further details about the events inside the premises were not disclosed.
