A man is in critical condition at a hospital in Bradford after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head in a drive-by shooting incident. The victim, a 28-year-old male, was attacked on Gaythorne Road in West Bowling, Bradford, West Yorkshire, at 10:57 pm on Wednesday night.
According to the police, a white BMW vehicle was identified as the source of the gunfire and was later discovered burnt out over a mile away. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, leading to a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services.
Residents in the area described the chaotic scene, with one witness recalling hearing two gunshots before the arrival of police and ambulances. Another resident mentioned seeing the police and emergency services arriving in large numbers following the shooting.
Additionally, a resident who witnessed the car fire described initially mistaking it for a backyard fire before realizing the severity of the situation. Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team emphasized the gravity of the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward.
The fire service was also called to extinguish the car fire on Brompton Road. The shooting incident occurred not far from where Junaid Khan, a 19-year-old, was tragically murdered in June the previous year.
