A young child is in critical condition after suffering severe head injuries from what authorities believe was vigorous shaking. The incident occurred in Two Rocks, a town located 38 miles north of Perth, Australia, and emergency responders swiftly transported the 11-month-old to Perth Children’s Hospital.
The infant remains hospitalized in Perth under the same critical condition, while a 25-year-old man from Two Rocks has been arrested and charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm. According to news reports, the man and the child are related.
The man was granted bail on Wednesday at Perth Magistrates Court and is scheduled for another court appearance on July 29. At this stage, the man’s identity has not been disclosed.
Authorities are investigating the case, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
