A four-month-old infant was thrown from a moving vehicle during a high-speed pursuit but miraculously sustained only minor injuries. The incident occurred when an SUV crashed and overturned in Camden, Arkansas, on May 24, as the driver attempted to evade law enforcement at speeds exceeding 100mph. Authorities revealed that the SUV carried four young children, all below six years old. While the infant was ejected from the vehicle during the collision, the other three children were safely rescued from the wreckage.
The driver, identified as 28-year-old Tyrice Fletcher, was apprehended by Arkansas State Police. Reports indicate that officers tried to halt the vehicle for a traffic violation, but Fletcher ignored their signals, accelerating to over 100mph as the chase extended beyond Camden city limits onto Ouachita County Road 47.
During the pursuit, Fletcher allegedly passed multiple vehicles and veered into oncoming traffic. Police attempted to halt the chase by impacting the vehicle, unaware that children were aboard. Subsequently, Fletcher lost control of the SUV, careening through a yard, hitting a pole, and overturning.
Emergency services transported all four children to Ouachita County Medical Center for assessment and treatment of minor injuries. The children’s mother was promptly informed and accompanied them to the hospital.
Fletcher is currently detained at the Ouachita County Detention Center, facing various charges, including fleeing, endangering the welfare of minors, and other firearm and drug-related offenses. In a statement, Capt Rick Neill condemned Fletcher’s actions, emphasizing the jeopardy imposed on the innocent victims due to the suspect’s reckless behavior during the pursuit.
