Britons can expect hot weather reaching up to 30 degrees Celsius in the coming days, with nine counties forecasted to experience temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius or higher. Following a period of cool and wet conditions, a shift to warmer weather is anticipated due to a high-pressure system moving in from the south.
Projections indicate that by the end of next week, temperatures could soar to around 30 degrees Celsius in parts of the southeast, including Chelmsford. BBC weather forecaster Tomasz Schafernaker shared positive news, mentioning a transition to brighter and warmer weather after a spell of cloudy and rainy days.
The upcoming Friday, June 19, is expected to bring the hottest weather, with regions in the southeast and East Anglia likely to experience temperatures in the high 20s. While Lincolnshire, Rutland, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, and London are set for temperatures of at least 28 degrees Celsius, cooler conditions are anticipated further north and west.
In contrast, the southwest of England, Wales, and Scotland are likely to see temperatures in the mid-teens, while central and northern England may experience temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius, reaching the mid-20s in some areas. Schafernaker highlighted the presence of the jetstream and the influence of high and low-pressure systems on weather patterns.
According to the Met Office forecast for June 19 to 26, high pressure is expected to dominate the weather towards the end of the period, bringing drier and settled conditions with above-normal temperatures. The forecast emphasizes the likelihood of very warm or hot weather, especially in the southeast, during the upcoming weekend.
