Family seeks funds to reunite UK mother hospitalized in Gran Canaria

The family of a mother of five who is currently hospitalized in Gran Canaria due to sepsis is eager to reunite her with her children. Emily Casey, 34, fell ill while on vacation in the Canary Islands with her husband Jamie and their children. Just three days into their trip, Emily started experiencing breathing issues and was swiftly taken to a local hospital.

Initially, medical professionals suspected a blood clot in her lung due to her recent recovery from pneumonia. However, a CT scan revealed a recurrence of pneumonia with fluid accumulation in one lung necessitating drainage. Jamie took care of their children at the hotel while constantly checking on Emily, who later slipped into a coma and required life support.

After returning to the UK with their children following the end of their vacation, Jamie rushed back to Gran Canaria to be by his wife’s side. Unfortunately, Emily’s health deteriorated as she developed sepsis, worsening pneumonia, and sedation fluctuations. The family is urgently seeking financial assistance to cover the £50,000 needed for a medical flight back to the UK to reunite Emily with her children.

To support Emily’s return home, a GoFundMe page has been set up in her name for donations. The family is deeply committed to bringing Emily back to her children – Summer, 13, Oscar, 11, Isabelle, seven, Sophia, four, and Willow, one. Emily remains conscious but intermittently sedated, awaiting the necessary funds for repatriation.
