A children’s car seat, the Kinderkraft Mink Pro 2 and Mink FX 2 Isofix Base, received a “don’t buy” warning from consumer group Which? due to a significant safety concern. Despite costing £79 with the seat base, the product scored 0% in tests as the seat shell detached from the Isofix base during a crash test, posing a serious risk in the event of an accident.
While Which? did not issue a recall for the product, they advised owners to contact the retailer or manufacturer for potential options such as a replacement or refund. The product was highlighted in Which?’s list of products not recommended for purchase in 2026, alongside other items identified as either hazardous or underperforming.
Another product drawing safety issues was the £95 Red Kite Push Me Explor Stroller, scoring 43% after a wheel detachment incident during durability testing. In contrast, the Joie MyDrift, priced at £250, received a 74% rating with commendations for safety and usability, despite the higher cost.
Regarding health gadgets, the £80 Braun ExactFit 5 Connect Blood Pressure Monitor was criticized by Which? for providing inaccurate readings that could lead to unnecessary anxiety or misdiagnosis. Instead, the more affordable £35 Boots Multi-User Blood Pressure Monitor was recommended for its accurate readings within a minute.
Furthermore, the Silentnight Airmax 800 Air Purifier, priced at £69, scored poorly at 37% for its limited effectiveness in removing small particles from the air. Conversely, the £59 Blueair Mini Max achieved a 65% score for its efficient removal of airborne particles like dust, pollen, and smoke.
Which? Magazine Editor, Harry Rose, emphasized the importance of independent testing to ensure product quality and safety. Brands and prices do not guarantee performance, and consumers deserve products that meet expectations without compromising safety or functionality.
Statements from Kinderkraft, Braun, RedKite, and Silentnight emphasized their commitment to product compliance and customer safety, with offers for exchanges or refunds where necessary.
