Armed police responded to a situation in Liverpool this afternoon following reports of a man spotted with a possible firearm. The incident took place on City Road in Walton around 2.50pm when witnesses reported a confrontation involving three men, one of whom was seen carrying a gun.
Upon arrival, Merseyside Police dispatched armed officers to the scene. They successfully detained a man and recovered an imitation firearm, with no injuries reported. A resident in the area recounted hearing commotion and seeing armed police units arrive swiftly to resolve the situation.
A 48-year-old individual from Walton has been apprehended on suspicion of several offenses, including possession of an offensive weapon in a private location, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to instill fear, and affray. The suspect is currently in police custody for further interrogation.
Authorities are actively searching for the other two individuals believed to be involved in the altercation. They have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat related to the incident. Chief Inspector Andy Foster emphasized the importance of public cooperation in identifying suspects, seizing weapons, and maintaining community safety.
