Alpine Challenges Gasly’s Monaco Penalty

After last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, Alpine has initiated a Right of Review process following penalties imposed on their driver, Pierre Gasly. Gasly received two penalties for exceeding the pit lane speed limit by a marginal amount, leading to his podium finish being rescinded to seventh place. Alpine contested the penalties by presenting new evidence, including issues with the timing loops in the pit lane and data proving Gasly’s compliance with speed limits.

Alpine’s evidence highlighted discrepancies in the timing loops used to calculate speeds, indicating an overestimation of Gasly’s speed and that of other drivers during the race. The team also provided testimony from Gasly and technical data supporting their claims. This development has led to a second hearing where Alpine will argue for the penalties to be overturned, potentially altering the Monaco Grand Prix results and affecting other teams with similar penalties.

Additionally, George Russell faced consequences for failing to serve his penalty correctly, resulting in a drive-through penalty and dropping out of points contention. The resolution of this situation remains uncertain at present. Sky has enhanced its TV and sports bundle to now include additional streaming services and comprehensive Formula 1 coverage, offering fans access to all the F1 action throughout the season.

The upcoming hearing will determine the outcome of Alpine’s appeal, setting the stage for a potential revision of the Monaco Grand Prix standings and sparking reactions from affected teams.
