A leading airline has stated that it is unlikely to face flight cancellations this summer due to jet fuel shortages, as British travelers get ready to head to popular vacation destinations.
Air France, in collaboration with partner KLM, has reassured the public that there will be no disruptions to fuel supplies during July and August.
Concerns about potential flight cancellations arose after the US and Israel conducted joint strikes on key Iranian facilities on February 28. In response, Iran retaliated by attacking sites across the Middle East and blocking the critical Strait of Hormuz, a passage through which 20% of global oil trade flows.
Despite these events, various airlines have downplayed worries about fuel shortages. Air France’s recent statement joins others in ensuring travelers that their summer travel plans will proceed smoothly.
According to the Air France-KLM statement, the airlines have been closely monitoring fuel availability at their destinations. They are confident in their ability to maintain their flight schedules throughout the peak travel season in July and August.
The CEO, Benjamin Smith, affirmed that Air France, KLM, and Transavia will accommodate all customers during the summer season. The airlines are set to operate nearly 2,200 flights daily to over 320 destinations worldwide.
To provide additional flexibility, a promotional campaign is being launched for trips departing from France starting on June 3, 2026. This campaign will offer free ticket changes and will apply across all airlines within the group.
A similar initiative will be introduced for travelers originating in the Netherlands by KLM and Transavia shortly. Additionally, regardless of the date of purchase, the airlines have committed not to increase fares for bookings already made and paid for in case of rising fuel costs.
Customers are encouraged to book confidently, as there will be no unexpected charges.
