Shocking video footage captured a group of masked individuals driving their vehicle into a motorway service station, where they proceeded to break into an ATM and slot machines.
Rupon Miah, 34, who happened to be passing by, recorded the incident at Wetherby Services on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire at 2 am on July 29. The video shows the ATM machine visibly damaged as the masked men exit the car, open the trunk, and enter the area with the slot machines.
Describing the scene, Rupon from London stated, “I saw the car ramming the ATM after I came out of the service station toilet. Four masked men emerged from the car and began looting the slot machine area.”
He continued, “After that, I witnessed them driving away with the ATM machine loaded in the trunk of their car, which was left open.”
North Yorkshire Police confirmed an ongoing investigation into the incident, with no arrests made at this point. The police appealed for witnesses and information, stating that the theft involved a black vehicle, believed to be an older-model Nissan Juke, driven into the services through doors near the M&S Food store.
The suspects, wearing face coverings and gloves, used the vehicle to repeatedly ram the ATM and then attached a chain to a cash pay-out machine, pulling it free and loading it into the car. A burnt Nissan Juke was later found in the Leeds area with the stolen cash machine inside.
Police are seeking information on the incident and are particularly interested in speaking with three men who may have witnessed the events.
