Teenage Footballer Aoibheann Clarke Dies During Final

A 16-year-old teenage girl tragically passed away after collapsing during a football final. Aoibheann Clarke, 16, received CPR on the field while participating in the Girls Minor Division 6 Shield Gaelic football final in Taghmon, Ireland. Despite efforts to save her, she died shortly after being transported to the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, spectators were focused on a clash between players when concerns arose about the girl’s health at the opposite end of the field. Several individuals rushed to provide assistance, and after some time, Aoibheann regained breathing.

Her father was serving as a linesman during the game. Emergency services, including paramedics, police, fire crews, and an air ambulance, were present at the scene. The match was abandoned, and her teammates remained at the club awaiting updates, only to be informed later of her passing.

Aoibheann was described as a talented footballer who also played for All Blacks AFC and Wexford FC. She had recently contributed to Wexford FC’s victory in the Football Association of Ireland’s Women’s U19 Inter-League title.

In a statement, Taghmon Camross club expressed gratitude to all who responded promptly to the emergency. They requested privacy for the family during this sorrowful period. Wexford Camogie also paid tribute to Aoibheann, extending condolences to her family, friends, teammates, and the entire community affected by her loss.
