Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, downplayed an incident involving a shattered window on a flight operated by the airline’s subsidiary, Malta Air. O’Leary clarified that a passenger was not sucked out of the aircraft, despite initial reports suggesting so.
During the incident on flight FR1879 from Greece to Germany, passenger Ljubisa Karović experienced the window shattering, causing chaos onboard. Objects flew out of the window as fellow passengers tried to secure him in his seat in row 11F.
Karović sustained burns and bruises on his right arm, recalling the traumatic experience of the explosion and being partially sucked out of the window before being pulled back in. His wife, Svetlana Grković, witnessed the ordeal and described how passengers came together to assist and prevent further harm.
Following the landing, Karović was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, but continues to endure pain from the injuries. His lawyer emphasized the miraculous survival of Karović, who faced a near-death experience during the pressurization loss on the flight.
Ryanair’s O’Leary acknowledged the legal proceedings arising from the incident and assured that the airline would handle them accordingly in the future.
