“Inferno in Southern Norway Destroys 100+ Properties”

A massive fire in southern Norway has resulted in the destruction of over 100 properties and forced the evacuation of numerous residents, according to emergency services. The blaze, located in Krokstadelva, Drammen, approximately 30 miles west of Oslo, has spread to a nearby forest. Firefighters, Civil Defence personnel, and six firefighting helicopters are actively working to contain the inferno, which has posed a significant challenge due to the suspension of aerial operations during the night.

Residents in the area, like Finn Roine, have witnessed the rapid spread of the fire, with houses being engulfed in flames one after another. The fire has extended into the forest, presenting a growing wildfire that authorities are striving to control by approaching it from the south and containing it towards the north. Unfavorable weather conditions, particularly the wind, are causing concerns, with authorities speculating that it could take until Saturday to fully extinguish the fire.

While one individual has received treatment for minor smoke inhalation and a firefighter has suffered minor injuries, there have been no reports of missing persons. Evacuation and support centers have been established for those displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and local authorities are urging residents to heed advice from emergency services.

Drammen Mayor Kjell Arne Hermansen expressed shock at the scale of the fire and its impact on the community. The municipality has activated crisis management to address the situation, emphasizing the need for unity in dealing with the extensive consequences of the fire.
