Channing Tatum Reveals Intermittent Fasting Secret

Channing Tatum recently shared the straightforward eating approach he adopted to shed over five stone for a film role. The renowned actor, famous for his performances in “Step Up” and “Magic Mike,” outlined how adhering to a consistent routine facilitated one of his most remarkable physical transformations.

The 46-year-old star emphasized that his significant alteration involved delaying his initial meal until approximately 3 pm daily. He then consumed two modest meals comprising meat and vegetables, complemented by extended, moderate cardio sessions.

During a recent conversation, Tatum acknowledged his historical ease in adjusting weight for movie roles, though he acknowledged the increasing challenge as he ages. He reminisced, “I used to be able to lose weight very rapidly. I could fluctuate nearly 25 to 30 pounds in three weeks.”

Detailing his weight journey, Tatum disclosed that he weighed about 245 pounds for a project necessitating a “dad bod” appearance. Subsequently, he slimmed down to around 172 pounds for another character, resulting in an approximate loss of 73 pounds, equivalent to over five stone.

Initially intending to reach 185 pounds, Tatum found himself surpassing that goal due to the rhythm and stability offered by the filming environment. He remarked, “My lifestyle isn’t typically consistent. Being on set provided the necessary structure to adhere to my regimen daily.”

Discussing his dietary strategy, Tatum explained, “I practiced fasting until mid-afternoon each day, followed by two small meals featuring meat and vegetables.” He continued, “That was my routine, along with light, extended cardio sessions.” This regimen aligns with intermittent fasting, wherein eating is restricted to specific hours.

Intermittent fasting, according to the NHS, may aid some individuals by potentially reducing overall calorie consumption. Nonetheless, sustained weight loss success primarily hinges on maintaining a wholesome diet and regular physical activity, rather than solely relying on a specific eating pattern.

A study in the New England Journal of Medicine affirmed intermittent fasting as a viable weight-loss tactic for certain adults. However, researchers concluded its efficacy is generally equivalent to other calorie-regulated diets when total calorie intake remains consistent.

Tatum’s approach mirrors insights shared by his personal chef and nutritionist, Aline Fiuza. Fiuza noted that Tatum typically initiates a body transformation with fasting before transitioning to an intermittent fasting schedule, typically consuming meals between 1 pm and 6 or 7 pm.

Fiuza highlighted Tatum’s diet emphasis on vegetables, animal protein, nuts, and seeds, tailored to suit the physical demands of each role. She also revealed that as filming progresses, Tatum gradually reintroduces three daily meals.

Earlier this year, Tatum expressed his reluctance to subject his body to extreme weight fluctuations. In an Instagram post, he expressed gratitude towards his trainer and chef while stating his decision to avoid future demanding physical transformations, citing the strain on his body and the difficulty in shedding excess weight.
