Police in Greater Manchester have initiated an urgent search for an escaped prisoner. Marwan Jumaa, 20, who is considered a danger to himself and others, fled while receiving medical treatment at North Manchester Hospital after being transferred from a secure hospital facility on Tuesday evening.
Authorities have issued a plea for any information regarding Jumaa’s whereabouts and advised the public not to approach him but to contact emergency services immediately. Jumaa, described as a black male with a slim build, short dark hair, and standing around 5 feet 10 inches tall, is known to have connections in Bury, Prestwich, and Crumpsall in Greater Manchester, as well as in Leeds and London. He was last seen in the Radcliffe area on Tuesday night.
Detective Superintendent Amber Waywell of Greater Manchester Police emphasized the public threat posed by Jumaa, particularly to females, due to the nature of the crimes he is serving time for. Jumaa is serving an indefinite secure hospital sentence for assaulting two women, having pleaded guilty to multiple offenses earlier this year at Woolwich Crown Court.
Detective Chief Inspector Abigail Cronin from GMP urged anyone with information about Jumaa’s location to come forward. Reassuring the community of ongoing efforts to locate Jumaa, Cronin emphasized the importance of reporting any sightings without approaching him and provided specific details for contacting authorities.
If you have any information on Marwan Jumaa’s whereabouts, please contact the police or Crimestoppers anonymously. Remember not to approach him and call emergency services immediately if sighted, quoting the relevant case number.
