“Rome Driver Fined After Parking Line Color Change”

A motorist in Rome was shocked and angered by a controversial decision made by parking inspectors, leading to a viral social media post. Stefano Angeloni, an Italian driver, discovered that his legally parked car had been surrounded by freshly painted blue lines and slapped with a parking fine upon his return. The City Council of Rome workers had slyly changed the parking zone color from white to blue, resulting in a fine of €29.40 (£24.91).

In Rome, white lines indicate free parking areas, while blue lines signify paid parking zones. Angeloni captured the incident on video, expressing his frustration at the unexpected fine due to the covert line color change under his parked car. The video went viral, accumulating over a million views and sparking numerous comments on the council’s tactics.

Social media users reacted, with one suggesting using white paint to avoid parking fees, while another pointed out that as long as the wheel is on the white line, payment may not be necessary. Angeloni’s daughter clarified that the viral post was unintentional, and it remains unclear whether he contested the fine imposed by the City Council of Rome.
