“Tragic Loss at Sea: Family Honors Beloved Kayaker”

The family of a 19-year-old kayaker, who is believed to have passed away after going missing off the Northumberland coast, has honored their “much-loved son.”

Michael Henry was kayaking with a friend near Boulmer in Northumberland when their kayak capsized on July 7. While the friend made it to a buoy and was rescued by the coastguard, extensive search efforts for Mr. Henry yielded no results, leading Northumbria Police to conclude the operation.

Sadly, it is presumed that Mr. Henry lost his life at sea, according to the police.

In a heartfelt statement, his family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received, highlighting Michael’s positive impact as a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, team member, and friend. Described as an avid sportsman who cherished outdoor activities, Michael had plans for summer travel and university studies.

The family extended thanks to the emergency services and everyone involved in the search for Michael.

Chief Inspector Jon Caisley conveyed his condolences to Michael’s loved ones, acknowledging the profound impact of the tragic news on the community. Despite thorough search efforts, Michael remains unlocated and is believed to have tragically perished at sea.

The police chief commended the collaborative search efforts and urged respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
