A male nurse is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 79-year-old elderly patient at a care home in New South Wales, Australia. The incidents reportedly occurred between November 2023 and February 2024. The patient, who has cognitive impairment, was residing at a care facility during the time of the alleged assaults.
The 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday, July 13, following investigations by detectives from Coffs/Clarence Police District. He is accused of committing aggravated sexual assault against a victim with cognitive impairment, as well as sexually touching and carrying out sexual acts with another person.
The suspect appeared in court on Monday and is scheduled to reappear before Grafton Local Court on Monday, September 7. The arrest and charges stemmed from reports of the assistant nurse’s alleged misconduct at an aged care home in Maclean.
