“Inquiry Launched Into Boy’s Death Amid Cannibalism Suspicions”

An inquiry has been initiated to determine if cannibalism played a role in the death of a four-year-old boy, following the arrest of his mother on murder charges.

Authorities in Wyong, New South Wales, responded to a welfare check at a residence on Byron Street after a 32-year-old woman visited the police station.

Upon entering the unit, law enforcement discovered the deceased child with severe arm injuries, described by Superintendent Chad Gillies as an “extremely disturbing” scene.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Sunday that the possibility of cannibalism was being investigated in connection with the incident, although Supt Gillies declined to speculate during a press briefing.

While confirming the child had sustained injuries, Gillies refrained from disclosing the specifics. He noted a familial relationship between the 32-year-old woman and the four-year-old boy, who resided together in the unit.

Due to legal restrictions, neither the woman nor the child can be named. Authorities disclosed that the woman was already known to the police, and investigative efforts will proceed meticulously.

“We aim to comprehend the circumstances and motives behind this tragic event, as our duty to the young boy is to provide a thorough investigation for the court’s consideration,” Gillies stated.

The woman did not attend her bail hearing in court, with the case scheduled to reconvene on September 1.
