A man who identified himself as a “divine being” mutilated his own eyes and part of his tongue in an unsuccessful bid to be admitted to a medical facility after being found guilty of murder.
Robert Brandon Keller, 32, was convicted of the murder of Bruce William Dupree, 43, during a carjacking incident in October 2024. Declaring himself a divine entity, Keller proclaimed his presence in the courtroom.
“I am here as Robert Brandon Lewis Keller, representing a special entity. I seek the opportunity to be trusted and speak the truth, but this setting does not allow it,” Keller expressed.
Following his arrest, Keller self-inflicted injuries by gouging his eyes out, claiming to jailers that he did so to evade consequences and be transferred to a medical facility. He was handed a life sentence on July 2.
Under the influence of drugs, Keller assaulted Dupree, slashing his throat and abandoning him near Interstate 16 in Bulloch County, Georgia. A passing driver discovered Dupree in distress, leading to police intervention.
Unfortunately, Dupree succumbed to his wounds. Keller was apprehended at the Patriot Inn in Register, Georgia. Judge Matthew Hube condemned Keller’s actions, describing him as a menace who preyed on those offering help, leaving destruction in his wake.
Keller received two consecutive life sentences and an additional 25 years in prison. Bulloch County District Attorney Jillian Gibson commended the outcome, emphasizing community safety.
In a poignant statement, Dupree’s niece, Mandy Moore, expressed the irreplaceable loss caused by Keller’s actions and the relief that justice was served to prevent similar tragedies.
