A man, identified as Timir Ahmed Mohamed, aged 34, has been accused of attempted murder following an incident where a vehicle hit multiple pedestrians outside a bustling shopping center in West London. The event took place on Ealing Broadway around 2:30 pm on Saturday, resulting in injuries to five individuals, with three of them being hospitalized.
Although Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London initially looked into the matter, authorities have clarified that it is not considered a terrorism-related incident. The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Sunday evening that Mohamed, originally from Somalia and residing in Grange Park, Ealing, faces charges of five counts of attempted murder, along with dangerous driving, failure to stop, refusal to provide a breath sample for analysis, and criminal damage.
Mohamed has been detained in custody and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained were life-threatening or life-altering, with the two individuals who did not require hospitalization receiving on-site medical attention.
A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service stated that multiple resources were deployed to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedics in rapid response vehicles, a volunteer emergency responder team, and an incident response officer, as well as London’s Air Ambulance. Three patients were treated on-site, with one being transported to a major trauma center urgently by road, while the other two were taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
