Emergency services are currently conducting a search for a young boy who was spotted in distress in the water in Salford. Police divers have been deployed to the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park following the incident. Greater Manchester Police received a call on Saturday reporting the boy’s situation and have since been working alongside search teams at the scene.
The operation, which began on Saturday evening, continues as authorities focus on an area near a sandy stretch close to a bridge over the River Irwell. Witnesses say a teenage boy entered the water with other youths, while a teenage girl was successfully rescued by her friends. Although the girl appears physically unharmed, she is understandably shaken by the ordeal.
Another boy involved in the incident reportedly managed to extricate himself from the water. Search teams are currently assessing the river conditions from a bridge as part of their efforts. While the park remains open to the public, some pathways have been cordoned off for safety reasons.
