UK Braces for Record-Breaking Heatwave

The United Kingdom is bracing for record-breaking temperatures this June, with a possibility of surpassing all-time high temperatures. Alongside the scorching heat, some regions are also expecting heavy rainfall.

Meteorologists from the Met Office are predicting temperatures to soar to 37°C today, potentially reaching 39°C tomorrow. Weather warnings, marked in red and amber, have been issued for England and Wales, cautioning that temperatures could even hit 40°C.

The latest forecasts from the Met Office indicate that northern areas could experience highs of 34°C on Friday, while southern regions could see temperatures reaching 38°C. Despite the heat, heavy rain is anticipated in the morning, particularly in central Scotland, northern and central Scotland, and along the England-Wales border.

For tomorrow, the Met Office anticipates rain and thundery showers in north-west Scotland, with the possibility of low cloud cover and fog affecting North Sea coasts. However, most regions are expected to remain exceedingly hot.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the Met Office projects another hot day in the east on Friday, with cooler conditions gradually moving in from the west. This transition is likely to bring spells of rain and thundery showers over the weekend.

The BBC’s weekend weather forecast predicts continued hot and humid conditions on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures cooling off by Sunday. Sunshine is expected throughout the period, with a chance of scattered thunderstorms on Friday morning and again on Saturday afternoon and evening. Sunday may also see a few scattered thundery showers.
