“London Man Convicted of Terror Offenses”

A 20-year-old man, identified as Shuja Gibraeel Mohsin from Mitcham, has been convicted of possessing and distributing terrorist materials, according to the Metropolitan Police. The verdict came after a trial lasting two weeks at the Old Bailey. Mohsin came under scrutiny when he was stopped by counter terrorism officers at Heathrow Airport in January 2024 upon his return from Pakistan.

During a routine “schedule 7” check, authorities confiscated Mohsin’s phone for further examination. Subsequent analysis by specialist officers uncovered that Mohsin had been accessing extremist content and participating in chat groups associated with radical organizations such as the Taliban, Hamas, and Daesh.

Further inspection of Mohsin’s phone revealed alarming content, including a manual for making explosives and Daesh execution videos that he had forwarded to an online contact. Mohsin was subsequently detained in March 2024, and his computer was also impounded. In July 2024, he was re-arrested and questioned about the incriminating material found on his devices, to which he chose not to respond.

Following additional investigations and scrutiny of his devices, the Crown Prosecution Service pressed charges against Mohsin in April 2025. Subsequently, Mohsin was found guilty of possessing a document potentially useful for terrorist activities under the Terrorism Act 2000, related to the bomb-making manual. Additionally, he was convicted of disseminating terrorist material in connection with the Daesh execution videos he had shared. Mohsin is set to be sentenced on August 14.

Commander Helen Flanagan, who heads Counter Terrorism Policing London, remarked that Mohsin’s case highlights a concerning trend of young individuals being exposed to extremist ideologies online from an early age. She emphasized the importance of parents and guardians monitoring children’s online activities and seeking assistance if they have any suspicions. Flanagan warned of severe consequences for those involved in downloading or distributing terrorist content, underscoring the repercussions Mohsin now faces.
